I’ve been toying with the idea of adding a second podcast to my roster, inspired by my rediscovery of the website Every Sound At Once. If you haven’t heard of it, its a site which endeavors to track every kind of musical genre which exists at this moment and provide examples of the artists and tracks who fit that style. I remember stumbling upon this many years ago and getting sucked into a rabbit hole wherein I spent the next seven hours just discovering new sounds and artists.
So whereas my Prime Audio podcast is based on themes related to our experience of music and music appreciation and is cross-genre, Prime Audio Genres (working title) would focus on a specific genre (or in this case, micro-genre) and base a playlist around that. This show, unlike Prime Audio, would be a solo show I would do on my own. And since electronic based music is my primary love (and likely the one with the most sub-genres), I would be focusing on styles specific or adjacent to electronic. I would also be able to provide a little back-ground on the roots of that genre and how it came to be, as well as feature newly released music and potentially less well known artists on this show.
Let me mull it over for a day or two, but I think I’ll be doing this.
